about full circle holistic & Dr. rebecca cohen
“A woman is the full circle. within her is the power to create, nurture & transform.”
- Diane Mariechild
full circle holistic tends to women throughout their lifetime by harnessing the power of women & nature.
We do this work as an act of sacred activism. Patriarchal systems have colonized women’s bodies and the natural world in detrimental ways. It is time to take reclaim that power and move towards a new paradigm of eco-human health.
We do this work because women’s health is foundational to humanity’s health. Sovereign women lead to sovereign families which ripples out into the community at large. It is not just about one woman (although that would be reason enough), it is about changing the very fabric of our culture.
our pillars
full circle’s holistic care is rooted in:
pelvic wellness
Through medically informed Holistic Pelvic Care & Bodywork, we focus on supporting the most sacred part of the woman’s body - her pelvic bowl - reconnecting women to their vitality, creative power and womb wisdom.
authentic midwifery
Normal birth is not a medical event, but a physiological one. As birthkeepers, we allow pregnancy and the natural birthing process to unfold undisturbed. We help women trust their bodies again, and support them in having a natural, safe and sovereign birth.
plant
medicine
Plants are sentient and have co-evolved with humans to be the medicine we need. Our handcrafted herbal remedies work synergistically with your body’s intelligence to give you naturally sustainable health.
women’s circles
We believe women are each other’s medicine, and we’re here to bring back the village through women’s circles and gatherings, where we can support each other through shared wisdom, story, and sisterhood.
dr. Rebecca COhen, founder of full circle holistic
I’m rebecca, inDePendent obsteTrician, Herbalist, wise woman & mother of 9 children.
I’ve known since I was a teenager that I wanted to serve women. No matter what story I read, I’d identify with the witch, the midwife, the village medicine woman, or the caregiver in a woman’s compound.
When I was 17, I began traveling with the Grateful Dead. Over time, every bus seemed to have a pregnant young woman, and I would dream of having my own bus decked out with everything needed to care for them - herbs, fetoscopes, you name it.
By age 19, I was circling with women who were aspiring midwives - we studied the book, “A New View of a Woman’s Body”, and used the plastic speculum that it came with to look at each other’s cervixes. I’ll alway remember a particularly powerful circle where we melted a part of my friend’s carpet while performing a release ritual. She didn’t mind - it served as a reminder of the magic we made together.
i have always tread the precarious line between medical & natural worlds.
The only doctor at the midwifery conference; the only med-student who read books like ‘Home Birth’ and practiced womb meditations. I was the pro-choice feminist who wanted ‘at least 6 kids’ but didn’t want abortion training. I was the obstetrician who rejected the misogyny of traditional OB/GYN residency, who ‘went rogue’ while being married to a family of doctors.
Ultimately, It was my own experience of medicalized birth trauma that led me leave industrialized healthcare behind and return to my authentic midwifery and wise woman roots.
Full Circle Holistic is a culmination of my 30 years in women’s healthcare. It is my way of integrating all parts of myself, to care for women in a way that honors all parts of them. I believe that the independence, creativity, and deeply personalized care this allows is a tool for radical ‘of-the-roots’ change.
dedication
I have been genuinely blessed by the lineage of wise women that have come before me and helped shape my approach to holistic healing & authentic wise-woman care: Rosita Arvigo, Rachelle Garcia Seliga, Rosemary Gladstar, Tami Kent, Jeannine Parvati, Aviva Romm, Sister Morningstar and many others.
I am thankful for the opportunity to serve the women in my community on their journey to wellness. My path has now come Full Circle.
